Strange World isn’t the first time Jake Gyllenhaal and Dennis Quaid have worked together on a project.
However, the 42-year-old actor had to be reminded they did.
While promoting their new movie, Jake was taken back by a reporter who had reminded him that he and Dennis had played father and son once before – on 2004′s The Day After Tomorrow.

In a joint interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Jake seemed genuinely surprised about the reminder.
“You and Jake obviously played father and son in The Day After Tomorrow,” the reporter says to Dennis, and that’s when Jake replied, “We did? Oh…Oh, oh! Whoah! That’s the guy who played my dad.”
Dennis then noted that “it’s the first time we’ve been in the same room together.”
Jake added, “Wow that’s cool. You know we’ve been doing a lot of interviews and you just blew my mind.”
In The Day After Tomorrow, Jake and Dennis did play father and son, but their characters were in different locations.
Dennis was Jack Hall, an NOAA paleoclimatologist who sets out to rescue his son Sam, who’s stranded in New York during a global disaster.
In Strange World, which is out in theaters now, the two recorded their voice parts separately.
Earlier this week in a rare sighting, Jake was seen with girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu. See the pics here.
