2022 Gardening Know How Sponsorship Recipients

At Gardening Know How we support school and community garden projects and the people who make them possible with all of our heart and soul! For the past 5 years we have awarded $1,000 to 20 different programs all across the U.S. and Canada – and this year is no different.

With recipients from Hawaii all the way to Nova Scotia, 2022’s garden sponsorships span different zones, climates, cultures, and purposes. Here is the complete list:

Gainesville, FL Gainesville Giving Garden A garden whose fresh local produce is donated to underserved people in a food insecure region
Elmsdale, NSCanada Elmsdale Community Garden An educational garden open to all, that addresses food insecurity and social isolation
Kamuela, HI Affordable Housing Ohana Garden A program that designs, builds and sustains gardens on-site at affordable housing properties in Hawaii
Norcress, GA Grow at GIVE An alternative school enhancing STEM programs and providing opportunities for environmental stewardship
Vernon, CT OWC Micro Greens A program that teaches therapeutic, sustainable horticulture for those with intellectual disabilities
Ft. Myers, FL Pine Manor A garden created to alleviate food insecurity that was demolished in Hurricane Ian
Malabar, FL Nana’s House Community Garden A community garden serving foster families that gives children’s cooking classes
Las Vegas, NV Revive the Special Ed Community Garden A garden tended by autistic students needing rehab after COVID shutdown
Rochester, NH William Allen School Garden A school garden and study area that incorporates garden education into each grade level’s curriculum
Waycross, GA Way Green Heritage Garden A food-share garden that reflects the community’s heritage story and donates to food banks
Oakland, CA San Antonio Park Community Garden A community garden in a park located in a food desert area providing fresh produce to residents
Duncan, BCCanada KinPark Community Gardens Multiple community gardens built to combat food insecurity offering learning workshops to students
Mongaup Valley, NY Edible Garden and Orchard An early childhood learning center teaching young children about nature
Jackson, MS Sharing is Caring Neighborhood Block Garden A neighborhood block garden providing fresh produce to seniors and families in 15 households
Napa, CA West Park Elementary Garden Projects An elementary school garden that deteriorated during the pandemic
Richland Hills, TX Community Greenhouse & Composting A diverse community offering seminars and free education, that donates produce to a food pantry
Sharpsville, PA Sharpsville Community Unity Garden Project A low-income area community garden serving students and their parents
Bend, OR Desert Sky Edible Garden A Montessori experiential learning “playground” giving guided lessons and child-led discovery
North Royalton, OH Ben Franklin School Garden A longstanding educational partnership between Master Gardeners and 4th grade students
