Following the debut of their new Netflix series, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a lot of people talking about whether the couple could lose their royal titles.
The couple were gifted the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex upon their marriage by the late Queen Elizabeth II and many are calling on the new monarch, King Charles III, who is Harry‘s father, to take them back.
However, according to a Palace source, the King is unlikely to do such a thing.

The insider told Page Six that “stripping their title is not something the King would likely ever consider … mostly because it would be too petty and punitive.”
They added that “it would only lead to the Sussexes claiming that it was a retaliatory action and proof they were never wanted in the royal family.”
If the King were to strip Harry and Meghan of their Sussex titles, this would only really effect Meghan.
While Harry would still be a Prince (as he was born a Prince of Wales), Meghan would be referred to as Princess Henry.
The Royal Titles Act explains that only princesses who are born into the royal family are allowed to use their given names. Meanwhile, one who marries into the family, would take her husband’s name. Princess Michael of Kent is the modern example of this.
Meghan and Harry have been revealing a lot more about their exit from the Royal Family in the show, and many have had a lot to say about it.
