You know those lazy days at home where you don’t have any firm plans, no looming deadlines or chores and nothing to do but hang out, catch up on your streaming queue or read a good book? Selena Gomez is right there with you — and she’s got a makeup look to match. The Rare Beauty founder just shared her go-to routine for those days when the only thing on her planner is “absolutely nothing.” (Hey, you might want to be ready just in case impromptu brunch plans or a movie date comes up!)
Gomez’s full spring makeup routine is glowing and gorgeous, but not too “done” for a low-key day. She shared how she gets ready for the day in a new YouTube tutorial video and the end result is so pretty. “Get ready with me to do absolutely nothing at my house,” the star intros her video. She kicks off with Rare’s Always an Optimist Illuminating Primer, which she says is her favorite primer. (Rare also offers a pore-diffusing version.) She follows with one of her ultimate faves, the Positive Light Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen; though the formula has SPF 20, dermatologists recommend wearing SPF 30 or higher every day. One of our favorite sunscreens is Best of Beauty winner Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free Mineral Sunscreen SPF 42.
Once Gomez has applied her tinted moisturizer, she moves on to concealer under her eyes. “Everyone has opinions on how to do concealer the right way … This is just what I do, I hope for the best,” she jokes while blending with a brush. To brighten her under eye, Gomez reaches for a new Rare product: Positive Light Under Eye Brightener, which has a cooling metal tip to help de-puff. (Another great de-puffer? Fortify+ De-Puffing + Protecting Eye Cream, a Best of Beauty winner we love.)
For a little warmth and definition, Gomez reaches for Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick and the fan favorite, TikTok viral Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. (You knew it was coming.) “If you’ve never tried my liquid blush, I would encourage you to do one dot and you’ll see why,” Gomez advises of the highly pigmented formula, which she blends in with a brush. She follows with the equally viral Positive Light Silky Touch Highlighter, which Gomez says she is extremely excited about; try Deck of Scarlet Mirror Glaze Highlighting Trio for an equally versatile option for those more casual days. The actor applies it to her cheekbones and nose for a luxurious glow, then moves on to filling in her brows and applying a little mascara. “I’m not going to do more on my eye because that’s a ‘let’s go out’ thing,” she says. Gomez finishes with Kind Words Matte Lip Liner and Lipstick in Talented, a neutral beige, and a spritz of setting spray and she’s off, ready for some much-deserved time off.
