Huawei launched the Mate 50 series last September, and there’s no indication that it won’t stick to a similar timeframe this year. That means we’re now mere weeks away from the Mate 60 family’s official introduction. Last week we heard that the series will introduce Huawei’s own take on the Dynamic Island concept pioneered by Apple, and today we have some news about the back of the Mate 60.
As it turns out, the camera island on its rear will be circular, perhaps in a similar fashion to its predecessor’s. That is, of course, if the information contained in this leak pans out.
What you see above is alleged to be the Mate 60’s back cover mold. It will be used to create the rear of the phone. As you can see, the island is clearly circular in shape, and it houses four holes for the cameras and some more for an assortment of different sensors.
The positions of the cameras are however different when compared to what the Mate 50 got. The periscope zoom lens is intriguingly rumored to “adopt new technology”. The circle that’s underneath the camera island is for molding of the wireless charging coil area.
Some reports from the past claimed Huawei might skip Qualcomm and use a mystery in-house chipset, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 seems like a better bet at this point.
