The so-called Super Res Zoom is undoubtedly one of the biggest upgrades the Pixel 7 Pro offers over its predecessor. It’s a combination of software, hardware and machine learning that allows for solid 30x zoom photos even if the actual telephoto zoom caps at 5x.
Here’s a gallery of One World Trade Center in Manhattan. The zoom starts at 1x and ends at 30x.
To show the power of the so-called Super Res Zoom, Google shared a gallery of photos showing what the Pixel 7 Pro is capable of. From 20x zoom and up, the phone uses a new machine learning-powered upscaler, powered by the new Tensor G2 SoC. And after 15x magnification, the handset uses advanced Zoom Stabilization, so you don’t need a tripod to take long-range shots.
Google says it has been working on the Super Res Zoom thing since 2018 because users are looking for advanced zoom capabilities without having to carry a bulky and expensive DSLR camera setup. Make sure to check out the full gallery of samples at the source link down below.
