The nubia Red Magic 9S Pro just went global and we already have one in our midst, so let’s do an unboxing.
This is the nubia Red Magic 9S Pro, the Pro+ is staying a China exclusive, but we think the regular Pro might be the better deal anyway. Sure, you miss out on the 165W charging (which impressively goes from 0% to 100% in just 16 minutes, per nubia), but you get a mightier 6,500mAh battery – around 16% extra juice is no small feat.
And the Red Magic 9S Pro still packs impressive 80W wired charging. You get the 80W brick in the box, too, along with a red USB-C to USB-C cable, and a thin hard plastic transparent case.
The nubia Red Magic 9S Pro is a full-fledged gaming phone, so naturally it comes equipped with a built-in fan with LED lights. You can choose to have them off if you like.
Like previous Red Magic flagships, the 9S Pro stays true to the rectangular, flat design. There’s nothing poking out, even the three camera lenses lay flat. It’s a recognizable design that’s also interesting, which is a double win.
The fan is barely audible in a regular office environment. It cools a higher-clocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC (on occassion known as “for Galaxy”), which itself is mated to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB storage.
We’re already in the advanced stages of reviewing the nubia Red Magic 9S Pro, so expect the full thing on our homepage shortly.
