It’s been years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved their family to the United States, and at the moment there are no plans for them to return to the United Kingdom.
The 38-year-old Duke of Sussex and his wife formally stepped back from their duties in the Royal Family back in 2020. They’ve since relocated to California. This year, Prince Harry even made a big change to his residency status, confirming that he lives primarily in the States.
In the new ITV documentary Tabloids on Trial, the Prince explained the key reason that he doesn’t want to bring Meghan back to his home country.

Prince Harry explained that all of the negative attention he and his wife faced in the U.K. made him concerned for Meghan‘s safety.
“They pushed me too far,” he said, via People. “It got to a point where you’re d-mned if you do and you’re d-mned if you don’t. But I don’t think there’s anybody in the world better suited and placed to be able to see this through than myself.”
He continued, saying, “It’s still dangerous, and all it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff to act on what they have read. And whether it’s a knife or acid, whatever it is, and these are things that are of genuine concern for me. It’s one of the reasons why I won’t bring my wife back to this country.”
Elsewhere in the project, the Prince explained a key cause of his rift with his family.
