Once on a vacation trip to Paris, I spent $500 at a chocolate shop. My husband didn’t know what I was saying in French, but he figured I must have spent a lot when they brought me some complimentary chocolates.
You could say I have a problem with chocolate. Or, you could say I have good taste. In any case, I really like chocolate, and I appreciate the finer versions.
So, when I tell you that ALDI has a new baking chocolate that’s absolutely fabulous, you know that I know chocolate.
What’s So Great About ALDI’s Baker’s Corner Semi-Sweet Chocolate Baking Bar
The new Baker’s Corner Semi-Sweet Chocolate Baking Bar is what you need this holiday season if you like chocolate and if you like to bake. A 4-ounce bar of this 60 percent cacao chocolate will run you only $2.49, which is such a great bargain. Not only that, but this chocolate is Rainforest Alliance certified, and its ingredients—like chocolate, sugar and cocoa butter—are easy to understand.
Baker’s Corner also has a new unsweetened bar of chocolate of the same size and price, so if you need unsweetened chocolate, this is also a really fantastic product at a great price.
But for my baking needs, semi-sweet is what I need. If you just taste it, it’s sweet and smooth, but not too sweet. At 60 percent cacao, it’s on the darker side, but it’s also not that far away from milk chocolate either, so it’s perfect for most chocolate baking needs.
Baker’s Corner Semi-Sweet Chocolate Baking Bar

How I Like to Use ALDI’s New Baking Chocolate
The first baked goods I made with it were brownies for my son’s Spanish class. They were having a party, and he said he wanted to bring brownies. (They’re not Spanish-flavored or themed; he just wanted brownies, and I was fine with that.)
We tested a New York Times cookbook recipe, and oh, these brownies were divine. His classmates loved them, and my husband was upset that there were brownies in the house that he couldn’t eat. Our son promised to make him another batch after I made a trip to ALDI.
This chocolate would be perfect for chocolate mousse, cake, or French silk pie, and I think it would rock a chocolate ganache. I would also be a great chocolate to make truffles with—and I’ve made many a truffle. If you also happen to be hangry for chocolate, it will fill this need, too.
