Kanye West‘s horrible, antisemitic statements have been condemned by many, but he still has Akon in his corner.
The 45-year-old “Monster” musician went as far as to praise Hitler, express love for Nazis and question the Holocaust during an interview with Alex Jones earlier this week. He was suspended from Twitter after sharing yet another antisemitic post.
However, Akon revealed that he still supported Kanye during a recent interview.

“I show support for opinion, and I think people will always have a specific opinion. And I think the moment we get to the place where we close our minds up to other people’s opinion, it kind of doesn’t allow us to get to better know each other,” Akon said when asked about his support of Kanye on Sky News.
“I’m a backer of the right to believe what you want to believe,” he added.
Akon said that he did not agree with Kanye‘s beliefs and would question them if they ever met.
“The day me and him have a conversation, I will give him my point of view on why I disagree,” he said. “And then he may come back and say ‘You know what, you’re right.’ Or he may come and say ‘Well, I’m not.’ At that moment it’s my job to understand why he’s viewing that way.”
He said that the comments didn’t really “trouble” him “because those comments don’t really affect me personally.”
A member of the Kardashian-Jenner family also voiced their support for Kanye earlier this week.
