Think about the last time you saw Rihanna without dark brown or black hair. I’m reminded of her red hair era, specifically the bright red curls she had in the “What’s My Name” music video from 2010. Since then, the multi-hyphenate has been sticking to her natural hair color (or shades that are close to it) for the most part — until this week, 13 years after the fact, when she was spotted with a new hair color in New York City. Rih has entered her blonde era.
Dressed in all black, the “Work” singer was on her way to Carbone with boyfriend A$AP Rocky to celebrate his 34th birthday. Most of her honey blonde-highlighted hair was swept up into the voluminous updo. It appears that her hair was twisted and rolled in sections before being pinned in place, resulting in the intentionally messy hairstyle reminiscent of Pamela Anderson’s signature style from the 1990s.
