After months of rumors, Nintendo announced that Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games are coming to the Switch online libraries. Best of all, both handheld offerings are available today.
These classic titles now support both local and online play (with friends only). Game Boy games will be available on the standard Nintendo Switch Online subscription tier. The library will grow over time, but today players can check out the following:
- Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
- Game & Watch Gallery 3
- Gargoyle’s Quest
- Kirby’s Dream Land
- The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
- Metroid II: The Return of Samus
- Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
- Tetris
- Wario Land 3
Nintendo also teased future additions such as The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble, and Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Game Boy Advance library will be part of the more expensive Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier. The first batch of games consists of:
- Kuru Kuru Kururin
- The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
- Mario Kart: Super Circuit
- Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
- Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 (including the e-Reader content)
- WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames
The games arriving in the future include Metroid Fusion, Kirby and The Amazing Mirror, Fire Emblem, F-Zero Maximum Velocity, and Golden Sun.
