Happy Monday GPODers! Today we’re visiting Heidi’s beautiful garden in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Her yard ranges from full sun to part shade, and (from the looks of these pictures) she has absolutely filled every corner possible with sensational blooms. A feast for the senses, a kaleidoscope of color can be found from annuals and perennials.
What an amazing weekend full of colors. Foxgloves, lupines, irises, peonies, poppies, columbine and the list continues. Perennials and biennials that are deer resistant too.
Happy Gardening 🙂
That iris (I think a Siberian iris variety (Iris sibirica, Zones 3–9) is so vibrant it is nearly glowing! And a pink foxglove (Digitalis purpurea, Zones 3–9) is always the epitome of classic garden beauty.
The way Heidi mixes flowers is so fun! The diverse mix of colors, forms, and textures make for endless interest. I could spend hours just inspecting this one photo and discovering new flowers and colors each time I look.
Yet she still manages to accomplish great plant pairings like these lupines growing around a pretty allium bloom.
And in another spot, lupines look equally as lovely with blue columbine, spotted geranium (Geranium maculatum, Zones 3–10), and the white bearded irises.
But it is these wildly-mixed that make me feel like a kid in a candy store! If you’ve ever felt afraid to mix colors, let Heidi be your inspiration to throw caution to the wind and embrace all the diversity that plants have to offer.
