Kate Hudson weighed in on the intricacies of cancel culture.
The 43-year-old Glass Onion actress jokingly pronounced Dane Cook “cancelled” while strapped in for a lie-detector test earlier this week.
However she admitted to having more complicated opinions about cancel culture as a whole. In a separate interview, she listed examples of people who clearly should be held accountable, but she also revealed why she’s hesitant to embrace the concept entirely.

“There are clear things that [warrant], you know, ‘You’re cancelled, bye,’” Kate told the Independent.
“We should hold people accountable who do anything that’s sexist, misogynistic, or racist. We should call out the lack of diversity in companies. Or the lack of women on boards. Kanye should be held accountable for his behaviour. Period,” she explained.
As a point of reference, the interview was conducted after he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt.
However, she added that there were some issues with just cancelling people, particularly younger people.
“If you’re over 40, there’s a line,” she opined. “I don’t want kids to be scared to make art, or to say things. They need to take risks and speak their minds, because what they want to say could actually be really powerful. ”
Kate continued: “I think we can make a little bit of room for the younger generation to find their way.”
The actress recently revealed which Glass Onion scene she wanted to be finished with ASAP and why.
