Nick Carter is taking legal action against the women who accused him of rape.
The 43-year-old Backstreet Boys singer recently filed a countersuit against Shannon Ruth, who sued him for sexual assault in December 2022. Nick is also suing Melissa Schuman, former singer of the girl group Dream, who accused him of rape in 2017.

The countersuit – which was obtained by People – states that the two women took advantage of the #MeToo movement and used it to launch a five-year conspiracy to “defame and vilify Carter and otherwise ruin his reputation for the purposes of garnering attention and fame and/or extorting money from Carter.”
Nick also describes the two women as “opportunists” who set out to “destroy” innocent lives,” and caused him more than $2.3 million in business losses after the accusations back in December.
In December, Shannon sued Nick for an alleged encounter that took place in 2001. In her lawsuit, she claims that Nick brought her onto his tour bus, gave her alcohol, and then sexually assaulted her after a concert. At the time, she was 17 and Nick was 21.
Back in 2017, Melissa accused Nick of raping her when she was 18 and still a virgin during an encounter that took place in 2002. He adamantly denied these claims as well.
