Craft Tips for Your Ocean Coloring Pages
When you finish your ocean coloring page masterpieces, don’t simply throw them out or toss them aside. You can use your aquatic coloring pages for tons of fun crafts about ocean life. You might even learn something along the way.
Make Your Own Ocean-Themed Bookmarks
This is a great craft to do with the kids. Measure the size you want for your bookmark. You can use an old bookmark as a guide. Cut out that much of one of your coloring pages, then adhere it to cardstock or something else that can give it some weight and stability. This will make it last far longer than a paper bookmark.
Next, punch a hole in the top of your bookmark. Then you’ll want to seal your artwork with something like Mod Podge so it will last longer and hold up better. Finally, add a ribbon (remember that hole you punched in the top?) for a bit of flare.
Decorate Your Pens and Markers
You can use your ocean-themed coloring pages to decorate pens and markers and make them more fun. Get a piece of tracing paper and roll it around a pen. This will allow you to cut out a guide that is exactly the right size for your pen. Trace your guide onto your ocean coloring page, then cut out your design.
Adhesive sheets work great for adhering your design to your pen. Peel off the cover and stick the adhesive sheet to the pen first. This will make the pen sticky so you can stick your design onto it.
Make Wood Block Decorations
Wood blocks come in so many more shapes than just blocks. You can find feathers, words, holiday-themed designs, and so much more. And, you can decorate any of these woodblocks with your ocean coloring pages to add color and interest.
You will need to cut your aquatic coloring pages to match the shape of the woodblock, then adhere it to the blocks. Just about any glue should work well. You can add a layer of Mod Podge Matte to help your design last.
Learn About Ocean Life
Finally, sneak some learning into your craft time. You can use ocean-themed coloring pages for any number of classroom crafts, from building dioramas to learning letters and spelling. Teach the kids about ocean life and marine life while they’re coloring. Looking at the thing they’re learning about can help keep them focused and interested. You can also use this time to teach them about color theory and complementary colors.
