Realme launched the GT Neo 5 with 240W fast charging today, making it the smartphone with the fastest charging rate on the market. The GT Neo 5 also has a variant with 150W charging and slightly bigger battery and both editions share the unique design with a glowing rectangle on the back.
Realme GT Neo 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The 240W version has 16GB RAM and either 256GB or 1TB storage. The GT Neo 5 150W can be purchased with either 8GB, 12GB, or 16GB RAM, while storage is always 256GB.
The phone is built around a 6.74” 10-bit AMOLED screen with 144Hz refresh rate. The resolution is 2772 x 1240 pixels and you get a 100% DCI-P3 coverage and 1,500Hz touch sampling rate.
The Realme GT Neo 5 240W comes with a 4,600mAh battery and a 20V/12A adapter in the retail box. The 150W variant has a 5,000mAh battery and a 20V/8A adapter in the retail package.
The 240W adapter can charge the GT Neo 5 to 20% in 80 seconds, to 50% in 4 minutes and 100% in under 10 minutes. The company says that just 30 seconds on the wire can provide up to 2 hours of talk.
The phone will also work with legacy VOOC and SuperVOOC chargers, which will also be able to provide their maximum power to the smartphone through the USB-C port.
The main camera on the back has a 50MP 1/1.56” Sony IMX890 sensor, OIS, and a 6P lens with an f/1.9 aperture. There’s also an 8MP ultrawide shooter with 112-degree FoV and a 2MP macro shooter.
The selfie camera has a 16MP Samsung sensor and sits inside a centered punch hole at the top of the screen.
Realme GT Neo 5 has an 8-component cooling solution, including a vapor chamber and multiple layers of graphite for heat dissipation. The fast charging could also be demanding from the phone, but Realme got a TUV Rheinland certification to confirm its safety.
Charging tests in the Realme Lab revealed the phone heats up no more than 10 degrees C, and is able to withstand 1,600 charges from 0 to 100% while keeping 80% of its capacity – that’s over four years of typical usage.
Realme GT Neo 5 features NFC And boots Android 13 with Realme UI 4.0 on top.
Realme placed an RGB LED rectangle on the back, which can act as a notification light and is fully customizable for different apps. It will also glow in red when the battery is under 20%, a notification that can also be programmed through the Settings menu.
The phone has three colors – White, Black, and Purple, and each of them has at least one variant with both charging options. Prices for the 240W variant are CNY3,199 ($470) for 16GB/256GB version and CNY3,499 ($515) for the 16GB/1TB edition.
The Realme GT Neo 5 150W is CNY2,499 ($368) for the base 8/256GB variant, CNY2,699 ($400) for the 12/256GB middle option, or CNY2,899 ($427) for 16/256GB top model.
