Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s days as a the Chosen One are behind her, and she wants to leave the past in the past.
The 45-year-old actress hit it big playing the titular character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which aired from 1997 until 2003 and still has a cult following to this day.
A reboot of the show has been in the works for years now. However, Sarah recently reiterated that she has no desire to return to her role as Buffy. She explained why she felt that way and talked about the future of the franchise.

Sarah told SFX Magazine that she was “not” interested in playing Buffy again, according to CBR.
Here’s why: “I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done. We wrapped that up.”
“I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment,” she continued, adding that the end of her show was “set up perfectly for someone else to have the power.”
The was another reason she didn’t feel like a good fit: “The metaphors of Buffy were the horrors of adolescence. I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent.”
Earlier this year Sarah had someone else in mind to take on the role. However, there has been some not-so-great news about the planned reboot.
