While you were en route to cast your ballot for the 2022 midterm elections on Tuesday, November 8, you might have also caught sight of Selena Gomez‘s classic red manicure and purple face covering imprinted with bold white letters that spelled “vote,” on Instagram.
The Rare Beauty founder has been one to vocalize the importance of voting and immigration rights with the help of a little something we call social media. (I’d like to take this chance to resurface the gorgeous shot Allure got of Gomez for her Allure cover story back in October of 2020, for which she wore a glistening floral crown, red lipstick, low pigtail braids, and a white halter tank top branded with the words “Vote or Die.”)
Manicurist Tom Bachik, Gomez’s go-to nail artist, was the artist behind her manicure. On election day, Backik was, as usual, quick with the follow-up and wrote a vote-friendly pun — “All (red)dy to vote” — in the caption for the photo of her impeccable, crisp, red, squoval-shaped nails.
