Stranger Things‘ fourth season aired on Netflix last summer, and fans have been desperate for the fifth and final season.

Well, it looks like that may be a long way off from now.

One of the stars of the show, Maya Hawke, revealed this during an interview: “I know that the Duffer Brothers have worked on this script and will continue to work on it when the strike is over.” So, according to Maya, the script might not even be fully completed.

The show’s co-creators echoed that sentiment on Twitter when the writers strike began in early May, saying, “Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out.

By the time the script is finished and the actors/crew finally start filming…it looks like it could be a while!
