Blackmagic Design has updated its popular Camera app for iOS, with version 2.1 bringing notable new features primarily aimed at iPhone 16 users. Key among these is the addition of Camera Control support, allowing users to adjust settings like zoom, exposure, focus, and ISO by simply swiping the Camera Control button. The update follows version 2.0, which introduced native iPad support back in August.
The app now also supports direct access from the Control Center, Lock Screen, or iPhone’s Camera Control, streamlining how users can launch and access its functions. Blackmagic has also expanded accessory compatibility, adding support for DockKit-compatible devices, including the Insta360 Flow Pro gimbal, giving users more flexibility when shooting stabilized video on the go.
Lastly, Blackmagic Camera 2.1 introduces higher bitrate recording options for H.264 and H.265, which lets users capture video with improved quality without relying on ProRes. This change could help users reduce the storage requirements of their footage without sacrificing quality.
