Week 35 brought us lots and lots of new hardware – Huawei surprised the world with the announcement of the Mate 60 Pro and Mate 60. The Pro has a triple dot notch on the front, with a selfie camera and a 3D tOf sensor. Other notable features include a 50MP main camera with a variable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture, a 5,000mAh battery with 88W wired and 50W charging, and a Kirin chipset (likely the 9000S). The phone is a Chinese exclusive for now.
The Fairphone 5 also became official. It has 5 years of warranty and up to 10 years of software support (8 years guaranteed). The Fairphone 5 is the easiest phone to repair, all you need is a Phillips head screwdriver. There are ten modules that you can replace yourself, you don’t need to go to a repair shop. The modules are sold by Fairphone and partners. The modules include the new OLED display, the rear and front cameras, the USB port and the battery, of course. Let’s have a closer look at these components. There is only one version and it costs €700/£620 (up from €580/£500 for the previous model), you only need to pick a color: Matte Black, Sky Blue or the new Transparent edition. Shipping is set to start on September 14, though the Sky Blue version won’t be available until the end of September.
Realme announced the GT5 in China with 150W and 240W of charging and up to 24 GB of RAM. They come with 5,240 mAh and 4,600 mAh batteries respectively, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and a 6.74-inch 144 Hz AMOLED. There’s no word yet on a global release.
Apple sent out invites to the iPhone 15 event on September 12. Expect the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, the 15 Pro, and the 15 Pro Max. The Pro Max will likely arrive on shelves a bit later (October) and will be the only one with a periscope zoom camera.
ZTE’s nubia is making a phone with a classic 35mm main camera and a huge 1-inch sensor. The device, which looks nearly identical to the Z50S Pro was pictured with a humongous camera island.
