Welcome to 2023, Aries. It’s a new year, filled with more retrogrades and chaotic eclipses, And of course, gifts of abundance from Venus, assertiveness from Mars, and other astrological blessings. Speaking of Mars, the warrior of the Gods, and your ruling planet (fitting, right?), it’s still retrograde when the year begins. Fear not; the fiery planet goes direct on Thursday, January 12. But use the first bit of 2023 to rest. The best way to deal with a Mars retrograde is to lean into Venusian activities, such as opulent baths and plenty of snuggles. You can get to the kinky sex when Mars goes direct.

Your season begins on Monday, March 20, Aries, and runs through Thursday, April 20. The day you must hand the torch over to sensual Taurus may be one of the most chaotic days of the year. No, that has nothing to do with the day being 4/20. There is a new moon and solar eclipse in your sign on Thursday, April 20. Eclipses (especially when they fall in your sign) can leave folks feeling on edge and in the mood to bicker, so astrologers usually advise taking it easy around this time. While full moons aren’t as associated with sudden change as eclipses are, the same holds true for these lunations. So, when Friday, September 29, brings a full moon in your sign, Aries, you have another excuse to stay in and pamper yourself. But this is only the broad strokes of the year ahead. Keep reading to learn what to expect in matters or love, friendship, career, and health from 2023.

In this story:

Important 2023 Astrological Events for Aries

  • Thursday, January 12 Mars retrograde ends
  • Friday, January 13 Juno enters Aries
  • Monday, February 20 Venus enters Aries
  • Monday, March 20 Aries season begins
  • Tuesday, Marcy 21 New moon in Aries
  • Thursday, April 20 New moon and solar eclipse in Aries
  • Sunday, July 23 Chiron goes retrograde in Aries
  • Friday, September 29 Full moon in Aries

As noted, when 2023 begins, your ruling planet, Mars, is still retrograde. Because Mars rules our primal sexual side, don’t be surprised if you’re more interested in cuddling than spanking in the early days of January. Mars retrograde is an excellent time to go with the flow and lean into your Venusian side, which means opting for softer avenues of sensuality, such as snuggles, hot baths, massages, and plenty of sleep

When Mars ends its retrograde and goes direct in chatty Gemini on Thursday, January 12, you’re turned on and ready to break out your favorite sex toy or check a fantasy off of your sexual bucket list. Furthermore, because this transit falls in your 3rd House of Communication, you feel confident enough to express your desires with your partner or begin by admitting them to yourself. (Not sure where to start? Check out our list of kinks and fantasies and see if any pique your interest.) Remember, regardless if you identify as vanilla or kinky, sex and intimacy are not separate. The day after Mars goes direct, on Friday, January 13, Juno, the “asteroid of commitment,” enters your sign. Circle these two dates in your calendar because mid-January not only sees you exploring various avenues of pleasure but also marks a time of deepening within your romantic relationships. Of course, that doesn’t mean your job is to find a partner. Sometimes, being single is the best thing we can do for ourselves spiritually and sexually. (Remember, star babies: masturbation counts!)

February should also be lucky in love as Venus enters your sign on Monday, February 20. When Venus, the goddess of love, beauty, and abundance, is in your sign, matters of romance flow easier. You continue to feel self-assured enough to express your desires and give off a glow that makes your hot self seem even more attractive.
